Crystal Reports - Failed to open document

Today I experienced having trouble with my VS 2005. When I tried to open my .rpt file it pop-up an error message "Failed to open document" and "Failed to create the Crystal Query Engine".

What I did before experiencing these error was installing my application to my development machine. I google and found this helpful link.

http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=457086&SiteID=1

What happened was when I created my setup package embedding the Crystal Report merge module and installing it to my development machine and then uninstalling it, it removes all Crystal Reports files from my system including those used by Visual Studio.

To fix the problem, I follow these steps posted by PCr.

1. Go to Add/Remove Programs and select Change/Remove for Microsoft Visual Studio 2005
2. Select Next then Add or Remove Features from the Visual Studio 2005 Maintenance Mode app
3. Uncheck Crystal Reports for Visual Studio and select Update
Once the "Update" is complete, select Finish
4. Go back to Add/Remove Programs and select Change/Remove for Microsoft Visual Studio 2005
5. Select Next then Add or Remove Features from the Visual Studio 2005 Maintenance Mode app
6. Check Crystal Reports for Visual Studio and select Update
7. Insert Disk 1 of Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Installation CD's and select OK
Once the "Update" is complete, select Finish.

    @Hifni,

    I can't think of any solution other than reinstalling the Visual Studio. Sorry if I can't help you.
